Renovation Week Four

SUNDAY 14 AUGUST 2022

Calacatta Viola, ABI Interiors Brushed Gunmetal, Porters Paint Fresco & Dulux Pre-School Half

So last weekend we started looking at the design of our kitchen.

We have decided to move the kitchen out of the tiny room it was originally located, and into the hallway to create a more opening plan living.

As the overall space of the apartment is only 56sqm we wanted to ensure the finishes for the kitchen were light, bright and made the space feel as big as possible. We liked the idea of veneer but thought it would close off the space too much. We also decided on the idea of a shelf, rather than overhead cupboards as we didn’t want too much ‘bulkiness’.

We took inspiration from project Pacific Heights by Studio Michael Hilal, as we loved the use of Calacatta Viola and light blue joinery.

We made our first purchases this week from Facebook Marketplace. We travelled out West to purchase 5sqm of Terrazzo for the laundry floor ($350). We also crossed the bridge to purchase 6.5sqm of Surface Gallery Carrara Marble 600 x 300 tiles ($550). We did this, for obvious cost saving reasons but also to avoid any lead times that might come with purchasing these from a company.

We also put together a comparison spreadsheet to start thinking about our kitchen appliances.

3 weeks until we get the keys!
